VINES

METHODS

From a culture related to the land,  · MARENAS ·  V&B is a small vineyard of 6 hectares.

The vineyard is located in a property called “Cerro Encinas”, to an altitude of 350 m in a slope of the hill. The grounds from this region are undulating, hill or flat shaped.

The estate is placed in a Denomination of Origin where the main grounds are known as “albarizas”.  The property  “Cerro Encinas” is a free, sandy and clayey land with a high content of carbonates and active limestone. These land characteristics are perfect for the vine culture and bring high quality grapes.

The Mediterranean climate with a certain degree of continental (warm and dry summers and short but not very cold winters) gives around 3000 hours per year of effective sunshine, which guarantee a perfect natural maturing.

The third plot of Pinot Noir is in other land called Río Frío Alto, to 15 kms. of the vinery and an altitud of 450m. The ground in this land has a hight chalk content.

The influence of the climate and the sun makes the vintage to be one month early with regard to other regions. That is why · MARENAS ·  V&B makes one of the first vintages in Spain.
